Description
2021 1/2 oz Mexican Gold Libertad Coin (BU)
When it was introduced in 1981, the Mexican Gold Libertad established a direct link back to the 1921 50 Peso gold coin issued by the nation, known as the Centenario. The Centenario was released to mark the 100th anniversary of national independence and featured a stirring rendition of Winged Victory on the reverse. That design was revived in 1981 for the Gold Libertad and continues to this day. Today, 2021 1/2 oz Mexican Gold Libertad Coins are available to you online from Omega Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
- Available to you in an individual plastic flip!
- 25th release of the 1/2 oz Mexican Gold Libertad Coin!
- Contains 1/2 Troy oz of .999 pure gold in BU condition.
- On the obverse is the national coat of arms of Mexico.
- The reverse field depicts Winged Victory.
The Centenario was much different than the Gold Libertad when you look beyond the designs. While both coins boasted an image of the national coat of arms on the obverse and Winged Victory on the reverse, the coins were otherwise much different. For starters, these bullion coins have .999 pure gold content and are for investment purposes. Additionally, the Centenario was issued a face value of 50 Peso and used in circulation, while the Gold Libertad has no denoted face value.
All of the 2021 1/2 oz Mexican Gold Libertad Coins available here come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins in this 1/2 oz gold weight are available to purchase with protective plastic flips to house each individual coin.

This design features a Mexican golden eagle on its perch on a prickly pear cactus, with a serpent in its talons and beak. There is a wreath of oak and laurel beneath the design of the national coat of arms.
The reverse field of 2021 1/2 oz Mexican Gold Libertad coins is the statue of Winged Victory. Her figure is shown in a three-quarter side profile as she stands at the top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column. The column was erected in 1921 to mark 100 years of independence, while the statue of Victory was actually created in 1910 to celebrate 100 years since the start of the struggle for independence.
Mexican Gold Libertad coins are issued by the Mexican Mint. The mint is the oldest in the Americas and was established in 1535 with a decree from the Spanish Crown.
