Description

1 oz Johnson Matthey Stillwater Palladium Round

Palladium products are typically limited to palladium coins and, most commonly, palladium bars. In 2004, famed precious metals company Johnson-Matthey issued a palladium round with beautiful designs on the obverse and reverse sides. Now you have a chance to purchase 1 oz Johnson Matthey Palladium Stillwater Rounds online from Omega Bullion.

Round Highlights:

  • Round arrives inside of a protective assay card!
  • Struck only in 2004!
  • Produced using palladium mined in the United States!
  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .9995 pure palladium.
  • Obverse includes the image of explorers Lewis and Clark.
  • Reverse depicts James Earle Frasers American Buffalo design.

Palladium is one of Earth’s rarest natural-occurring precious metals. There are only four major deposits of palladium known in the world and one of those is located in the southwestern counties of the US state of Montana. Stillwater Mining Company produced these rounds and is the company that extracts and refines platinum and palladium from the Stillwater Complex in Montana.

The 1 oz Johnson Matthey Palladium Stillwater Rounds include palladium extracted and refined by Stillwater Mining Company from the Stillwater Complex in Montana. The rounds were issued in 2004 to mark the 200th anniversary of Lewis and Clark’s expedition through the American West to the Pacific Coast.

On the obverse of the 1 oz Johnson Matthey Palladium Stillwater Round is the image of Lewis and Clark standing on a scenic overlook as they survey the wild lands ahead of them. Engravings on this side include “Lewis and Clark West to the Pacific,” “Stillwater Palladium,” “2004,” and “Lewis & Clark Corps of Discovery.”

Lewis and Clark were commissioned by President Thomas Jefferson to explore and map the vast lands acquired by the United States following completion of the Louisiana Purchase from France. The acquisition of these lands by President Jefferson more than doubled the size of the existing United States and it took Lewis and Clark two full years to explore and map the vast stretch of the continental US acquired.

The reverse of 1 oz Palladium Stillwater Rounds includes the image of an American bison. This design of a buffalo is an exact replication of James Earle Frasers reverse design elements from the Buffalo Nickel. It depicts a bison standing on a mound of dirt in left-profile relief with engravings of “United States of America” and “1 Troy Ounce .9995 Fine Palladium.”

These 1 oz Johnson Matthey Palladium Stillwater Rounds are available to you inside of protective assay packaging that includes the signature of the CEO of the Stillwater Mining Company that extracted and refined the metals for these rounds.
