The United States Congress authorized the production of a Palladium Eagle coin back in 2010, but the demands on the mint for gold and silver versions of the American Eagles at the time made it difficult to integrate a new coin into the collection. Adding to the issue was the lack of demand for palladium at the time. By 2017 though, the US Mint and the market were ready for a Palladium Eagle to debut.
