The House of Tudor is one of the most infamous ruling dynasties in the history of the English crown. The house was formed in 1485 by Henry Tudor, the leader of the House of Lancaster. Henry Tudor defeated King Richard III, the reigning king and leader of the House of York, at the Battle of Bosworth. With his victory, Henry Tudor took the throne as King Henry VII and married Elizabeth of York, daughter of Edward IV. His marriage unified the Houses of Lancaster and York, forming the House of Tudor and launched a dynasty that would rule until 1603.

Obverse features on the 2022 10 oz Proof British Silver Tudor Beasts Seymour Panther Coin include an effigy of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen is shown here in right-profile relief wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown. This effigy shows the Queen at the age of 89 and is the fifth-generation portrait of the Queen from Jody Clark.

Reverse designs on the 2022 Proof British Silver Tudor Beasts Seymour Panther Coins depict the image of the Seymour Panther. The panther was actually given to Jane Seymour, third wife of King Henry VIII, as a quick fix to replace the symbolism of Anne Boleyn following her execution. Anne Boleyn’s arms and badges were largely destroyed, but some were simply replaced. Anne’s leopard was rebranded as a panther for Jane Seymour.
