Each coin is backed as legal tender by the central bank and the Rwandan Lunar Ounce Series is one of several from the nation’s collaboration with BH Mayer. Other programs include the Rwandan Wildlife Series and the Rwandan Nautical Ounce Series.

On the obverse of 1 oz Rwandan Tiger Platinum Coins, you will find a depiction of the national coat of arms. This design shows the national seal with a basket at the center, a cogwheel in the background, and a sun overhead. These items are flanked immediately by branches of sorghum and coffee, with traditional warriors’ shields outside of that.
The reverse design of the 2022 Rwandan Tiger Platinum Coin features an image of the powerful tiger. The third animal in the 12-year cycle of animals within the Zodiac, the tiger is a symbol of power and is shown here in left-profile relief in the tiled mosaic design concept this series has employed since it launched in 2017.
