To date, the American Eagle bullion coins have always featured an effigy of Liberty on the obverse and an image of the American bald eagle on the reverse. Among the four metallic versions in the series, only the Platinum Eagle does not have an image of Liberty lifted from historic US coinage. The Silver Eagle boasts Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty design. The Gold Eagle features Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ Liberty design. On the Palladium Eagles, Weinman strikes again with the Winged Liberty image.
All of these 2020-W 1 oz Burnished American Palladium Eagle Coins are available to you with a perfect certification from the NGC. Coins with a Mint State 70 certification have full, original mint luster and present with no detracting flaws.
On the obverse of 2020 Burnished American Palladium Eagle Coins is a depiction of Winged Liberty. This design from Adolph A. Weinman was introduced in 1916 on the US dime and was exceptionally popular with the American public. The left-profile effigy of Liberty on this face of the coins was so similar in appearance to common depictions of the Roman messenger god Mercury that Americans took to calling the Winged Liberty Dime the Mercury Dime instead.
The reverse side of the 2020–W 1 oz Burnished Palladium Eagle Coins features a design that was also created by Weinman. This particular design came from the 1907 American Institute of Architect’s gold medal. It depicts a bald eagle on a cliff clutching a small sapling.
