Horse Privy Silver Britannia Design
The 2014 Silver Britannia Coin featuring the Horse Privy Mark bears the same imagery as the regular coins from the Britannia series. This includes, on the obverse, a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. In this image, Ian Rank-Broadley portrays a middle-aged queen sporting a tiara from her famous jewel collection. The queen, who is right-facing, is surrounded by her name “Elizabeth II,” the phrase “DG REG FID DEF” and the coin’s face value (2 Pounds). Directly below the queen’s neck “IRB” is inscribed to denote the artist, Ian Rank Broadley.
A scene featuring Britannia, as designed by British sculptor Philip Nathan, is showcased on the coin’s reverse side. In this image, Britannia is shown standing on a cliff overlooking a calm sea. She holds a trident in one hand with a shield featuring the British flag in the other. Her gown is depicted in such a way that it appears to be blowing in the wind as she stares off towards the sea. Surrounding Britannia, is her name, the minting year, weight, purity and metal type of the coin.
