Weinman, the image includes Liberty walking toward the horizon with the American flag draped over her shoulders. Her right hand is outstretched toward the sun on the horizon and her left hand holds the oak and laurel branches of US civic and military success.

Originally created in 1794 for US Mint coins, the heraldic eagle has been modified countless times throughout US history.
