American Silver Eagle Coins took a step in a new direction in mid-2021 with the release a first-ever design change on the reverse of the coins. From 1986 to 2021, the US Mint featured John Mercanti’s design of the heraldic eagle on the reverse. Starting with the 2021 Type 2 release, a new design from Emily Damstra came to the reverse of the coins.
This 38-Coin Set of certified American Silver Eagles includes one of each of the date marks available in the series as of 2022. This means the set comes with single coins for the 1986-2020 dates, two coins from the 2021 release that represent the Type 1 and Type 2 designs, and a single 2022 coin.
Walking Liberty is present on the obverse of all coins in the American Silver Eagle 38-Coin Set. This design was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman and featured on the US half dollar through 1947. Since 1986, this left-profile image of Liberty’s full-length figure has graced the Silver Eagle. It shows Liberty walking toward the sun on the horizon with her right hand outstretched, her left carrying branches of oak and laurel, and the American flag draped around her figure.
One of two designs features on the reverse of all 1986-2022 American Silver Eagle Coins in this 38-Coin Set. The 1986 to 2021 Type 1 coins feature John Mercanti’s heraldic eagle design. The 2021 Type 2 coin and the 2022 coin features the new soaring bald eagle with an oak branch in its talons.
These 1986-2022 American Silver Eagle 38-Coin Sets feature individual plastic slabs for each coin. All coins are certified Mint State 69 by the NGC. Coins in this condition have full, original mint luster with no more than two minor detracting flaws. Examples of these flaws include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines outside the primary focal points.
