1986-2016 Proof American Silver Eagle 30-Coin Set (Box + CoA, No 2009s)

American Silver Eagle coins are the single most popular product in the precious metals industry today. In 2014 the US Mint set a single-year sales record of 44 million coins, only to break that record again in 2015 with 47 million coins sold. Now the US Mint is celebrating the coins 30th anniversary in 2016, and Omega Bullion has a 30-coin set of 1986 to 2016 Proof American Silver Eagle coins available for purchase.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coins ship inside a commemorative box, complete with Certificate of Authenticity.
  • Each coin contains 1 oz of .999 pure silver, for a total of 30 oz.
  • Individual coins issued a face value of $1 (USD) by the United States government.
  • Struck in proof.
  • No 2009 proof coins included in this set.

The United States Mint introduced the American Silver Eagle, along with its gold counterpart, in 1986. Each coin was introduced following separate legislation approved by Congress. The Liberty Coin Act of 1985 set the foundation for the American Silver Eagle, releasing silver stores from the Defense National Stockpile to strike the original coins, and mandating that all Silver Eagles contain only silver sourced from within the US.

Adolph A. Weinman’s iconic Walking Liberty design was chosen as the obverse image for the American Silver Eagle. His depiction included Liberty as she wore the US flag around her shoulders, walking toward the setting sun. It was designed to represent the American spirit and the nation’s desire to always march toward a brighter future.

On the obverse of each coin you’ll find Weinman’s depiction of Walking Liberty. He created this design in 1916, and it featured on the obverse of the Walking Liberty Half Dollar from 1916 to 1947. It is still considered to this day as one of the greatest American coin designs of all time.

The reverse features the image of the heraldic eagle. Created in 1986 by then-US Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti, it shows the American bald eagle behind the nation’s heraldic shield. It clutches arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other. The 13 stars set above its head represent America’s founding colonies.
