1890-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coin PCGS MS64

Introduced in 1878, the Morgan Silver Dollar was issued annually through 1904 and one more time in 1921. The Carson City Mint was one of the three original mints to issue the coins when production started in 1878, but did not strike the coins every year through 1904. The Carson City Mint was a purpose-built US Mint branch facility. In the 1860s and 1870s, there were several discoveries of silver in the American West. As such, the US Mint opened the Carson City Mint to take advantage of local sources of silver to help produce circulation American silver coins. Carson City Mint coins were issued from 1878 to 1885 and 1889 to 1893.

You will find several small contact marks and one or two heavier marks. There are also one or two small patches of hairlines on the coins, as well as noticeable, light scuff marks.

On the obverse of 1890-CC Morgan Dollars is a depiction of Lady Liberty. This left-profile portrait was created in 1878 by George T. Morgan and featured on the Morgan Dollars until 1921. This left-profile relief features Liberty with a Phrygian cap on her head, a coronet crown, and a laurel wreath in her hair.

The reverse side of the 1890-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coin comes with a depiction of the heraldic eagle of the United States. This design shows the American bald eagle in front-facing relief with the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons.
