The Carson City Mint issued Morgan Silver Dollars for two brief periods during the 19^th century. Purpose-built to refine silver coins for the United States, the Carson City Mint was immediately tapped to produce Morgan Dollars for the US Mint. The Carson City Mint used local sources of silver from Nevada and other locations in the west, making it the perfect location for Morgan Silver Dollar coining.

From 1878 to 1885, the Carson City Mint produced Morgan Silver Dollars before production was paused in 1886. From 1886 to 1888, the Carson City Mint did not produce any coins for the US Mint. When production resumed in 1889, the Morgan Silver Dollar was the only coin that returned to coining at Carson City.

Lady Liberty is on the obverse side of 1889-CC Morgan Dollars. This portrait of Liberty in left-profile relief was created by George T. Morgan and shows Liberty with a Phrygian cap, laurel wreath, and a coronet crown.

The heraldic eagle of the United States is featured in the reverse design of the 1889-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins. This design also came from George T. Morgan and shows the bald eagle in front-facing relief as it spreads its wings. The eagle clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace.

These 1889-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins come with an F12 grade from the NGC. Coins in this condition are considered Fine specimens that have moderate wear on various elements with heavy wear on the high points of the design. Despite these flaws, the major design elements are still visible.
