Established in the 1860s, the Carson City Mint did not begin coining silver dollars and other US silver denominations until 1870. Starting in 1878, the Carson City Mint would begin producing Morgan Silver Dollars. The Carson City Mint was the third of the US Mint’s purpose-built branch facilities. It was established in Nevada to take advantage of readily available local sources of silver to help the US Mint strike coins.
All of these 1884-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available to you in plastic slabs with a Mint State 66 certification. Coins in this condition have an above-average luster with small, scattered contact marks and light hairlines. Those hairlines are not visible without the aid of magnification.
On the obverse of 1884-CC Morgan Dollar Coins is an image of Lady Liberty. This left-profile bust of Liberty’s head includes an image of a Phrygian cap with a laurel wreath and coronet crown in the hair of Liberty. 13 stars accompany the bust of Liberty on this side with the date mark included.
The reverse field of the 1884-CC Morgan Silver Dollar comes with the heraldic eagle of the United States. This design was created in 1878 by George T. Morgan with a front-facing image of the bald eagle clutching the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace.
