Description

1/10 oz Proof American Platinum Eagle Coin (Random Year, Box + CoA)

The Proof American Platinum Eagle is the only major bullion coin released annually by the US Mint, and the only version of the American Eagle Series, with a new design element on one side. The coins featured new images of the bald eagle or symbols of the American government on the reverse each year from 1997 to 2017, and new obverse designs with a static reverse from 2018 onward. Today, 1/10 oz Proof American Platinum Eagle Coins from random years are available to purchase online from Omega Bullion.

Coin Highlights:

  • Available to you inside of a presentation box with a Certificate of Authenticity!
  • Issued by the US Mint from 1997 to 2008!
  • Limited mintages available!
  • Contains 1/10 Troy oz of .9995 pure platinum.
  • The face value of $10 (USD) is fully backed by the US government.
  • On the obverse is the Statue of Liberty.
  • The reverse features bald eagles or government symbols.
  • “W” mint mark from the West Point Mint.
  • Please remember you may receive matching dates and designs if you purchase several coins.

When the US Mint introduced the American Platinum Eagle Coins in 1997, the series boasted Brilliant Uncirculated and Proof options across four weights. The coin program consisted of 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz platinum coins in both versions. In 2008, the fractional-ounce weights were suspended permanently in both versions of the coin, and the 1 oz Brilliant Uncirculated coin was also suspended for several years before returning in 2014 and resuming annual production in 2016.

All of these 1/10 oz Proof American Platinum Eagle Coins are available to you with the original presentation box and the Certificate of Authenticity from the United States Mint. The coins are housed inside capsules within the box. The date marks available are chosen at random and consist of options from 1997 to 2008.

Please keep in mind that this is a random year listing. JM Bullion selects your coins at random after your payment has cleared. Once this occurs, we will select coins to fulfill your order based upon what is available in stock at that moment. We cannot guarantee a particular date and design in advance. Similarly, you may receive several coins with the same dates and designs if you buy several.

On the obverse of Proof American Platinum Eagle Coins, you will find the Statue of Liberty. This design was created in 1997 by John Mercanti and focuses on the steely gaze of Liberty as she stands in New York Harbor looking east toward the Old World as a beacon of hope and new beginnings for millions of immigrants.

The reverse side of the 1/10 oz Proof American Platinum Eagle Coin features varying images based on the date mark. The US Mint issued two focused design programs during the time the fractional-ounce coins were available: Vistas of Liberty and Foundations of Democracy. The former was available from 1997 to 2002 with new images of eagles in flight on the reverse, while the latter was available from 2006 to 2008 with depictions of the symbols of the three branches of the federal government.
